It is now only a dwarf planet, one of three in the solar system. The fate of Pluto was determined on Thursday August 24th, 2006 by a vote among members of the International Astronomical Union in Prague. Pluto is the second-largest known dwarf planet in the solar system and the tenth largest observed body directly orbiting the Sun.
