Unlike other backup programs, East-Tec Backup 2006 does not use a proprietary backup archive format. East-Tec Backup 2006 uses the widely popular ZIP open format. This gives you full control over your backed up data and even the ability to manually restore it without the help of East-Tec Backup 2006. Your data is protected using 256-bit AES, the most secure and sophisticated encryption algorithm currently available, also adopted as an encryption standard by the US government. In addition, East-Tec Backup 2006 backs up to almost any media, including CDR/RW and DVD+-R/RW drives, USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) external storage devices, internal or external hard disks, Iomega Zip and Jaz drives, local area network locations, and remote FTP locations (upload auto-resuming supported). East-Tec Backup 2006 provides a version control mechanism that allows backing up only changed files. You can view the differences between the current files and the last backup in a special view box that marks them in different colors.
